This is an advanced, research-oriented degree targeted at students interested in studying the effects that drugs have on biological systems, elucidating mechanisms of action, and contributing to the development of new therapeutic agents. The program places much emphasis on molecular pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, neuropharmacology, toxicology, and experimental therapeutics. Students learn how to design experiments, analyze drug interactions, evaluate efficacy and safety, and understand the ways medications influence cellular and systemic functions in humans and animals.
